Honest Nibbles

The GTA, scored honestly

Where we’dgo back.

A small crew of friends eats across the GTA, from Scarborough plazas to Queen West, and scores how the food tastes at every spot, out of 100. The tier word tells you how far it’s worth going.

How to read a score

Food taste, in five words.

Every spot gets a word first, then its food taste score out of 100. The word tells you how far it’s worth going; the number is the detail.

  1. Worth crossing townCross the city for it.90–100
  2. Worth a detourGo out of your way for it.75–89
  3. Worth a stopGood if it's on your route.60–74
  4. If you're already thereFine nearby. Don't plan a trip around it.40–59
  5. Skip itWe wouldn't go back.0–39

1 · The headline

Crew score

Friends who paid for the meal, each scoring the food’s taste out of 100. Their average is the score. Menu consistency and a one-line vibe sit on each spot’s page, apart from it.

2 · Kept separate

Diners’ score

Signed-in diners rate too. It shows once 5 people have rated a spot, and it is never averaged into ours.

3 · Only a link

Google’s rating

On each spot’s page as a link (↗) with the date we noted it, so you can compare. Never mixed in.

Start where you are.

Some of the best food in the GTA is in a plaza off a highway. We eat in the suburbs as much as downtown, and score them the same way.

Who’s scoring

Real visits. Real bills.

No critics, no influencers. We pay, we go back, we argue about the number, and each of us signs every review.

The map

Every spot, on one map.

Filter by price, dish or tier, or just look around your end of town. The list beside it says why each spot is there.

Why you can trust a number here

No paid reviews. Ever.

We pay for every meal, and restaurants can’t buy a score, a place on a list or a better spot on the map. Readers who chip in keep us going.
