Our mission
Honest reviews from people with nothing to sell.
We’re not food influencers. We’re regular, paying customers who love to eat, and we review spots across the GTA the way you’d tell a friend about them: straight, good or bad.
Why we started
Somewhere along the way, food reviews turned into ads.
You’ve seen it. A new spot opens, a wave of glowing posts follows, and you go. The food is fine. Sometimes not even that.
A lot of food content today is paid for. Restaurants pay for posts, send free meals and invite creators to tastings, and a post written after a free dinner rarely says the food was bad. Not every creator works that way. But when the person reviewing is being paid by the place they’re reviewing, the review is working for the restaurant, not for you.
That’s how a forgettable meal ends up with five stars, and how the small spots that can’t pay for hype get missed. We started Honest Nibbles to fix that, one honest review at a time.
What we do instead
We pay, we eat, we tell you the truth.
- We pay for every meal. Full price, out of our own pockets, every time.
- We say no to free food. No comped dinners, no invites, no tastings, no gifts.
- We show up like anyone else. Unannounced. The restaurant doesn’t know we’re there.
- We say when it’s not good. A score is only useful if it can be low.
- Nobody can buy a score. Not restaurants, not PR firms, not delivery apps. Money can’t get a review written, changed or taken down.
Why you can trust it
Nothing to gain from the places we review.
No restaurant pays us, feeds us or gets a say in what we write. So there’s no reason for us to tell you anything except what we actually think, and the only question we answer: would we go back?
Want to help?
Chip in toward the next bill
Honest Nibbles runs on our own money. If we helped you find a good meal, you can chip in toward the next one. It never buys anything here: not a review, not a score, not a spot on a list.
Any amount. PayPal handles the payment.
- We’re not a registered charity, so we can’t issue tax receipts.
- Delivery links, if a spot has them: the delivery app may pay us a small commission when you order through one. It never changes a score; spots are scored first.
